Top 5 Christmas Gifts for 10 Year Old Boys under $50
For this top 5 I decided to call on our resident expert when it comes to gifts for 10 year old boys, namely my nephew, who happens to be 10 years old, and definitely like to receive gifts. Together we compiled this short list of christmas gifts that no kid would complain about.
When choosing a gift for children around 10 years old, it is always difficult to balance the fact that they are starting to become teenagers, and that they are still children. It is always better to go a bit up in age for a gift, than to go down, because a ten year old will be horrified if it thinks that you still see them as a child (even though they are). My nephew calls himself a teenager, because technically he is, and I think that is the key to finding a great gift.
This is the age where gaming is probably for the first time something that they can do well. Games like Minecraft and Farming Simulator have probably been present in there lives, but really being good at games and fully understanding them is something relatively new for them. So the games that we selected are Minecraft and The Sims 4. And we know The Sims 4 is rated 12+, but we believe that rating is a bit high. But we do mention it, so that you can make that decision on your own. (And if you aren’t the parent, don’t forget to check which platfrom/console they have.)
2. Nerf Stuff
This is a gift that you see everywhere, and for a reason. These toys are a huge succes with this age group.
3. Games (as in Boardgames etc.)
They tend to be outdated and a bit old fashioned, but they are still a lot of fun. You can stick to the classics such as Monopoly or The Game of Life. Or you can go for one of the more original games made by Mayfair Games. One of their biggest successes is The Settlers of Catan, another of their games that I can highly recommend is the Saboteur game.
This is probably one of those gifts that everyone of every age would be happy with. And you can definitely find a good pair of headphones for under $50.
5. Lego (but only for some)
This is the one thing on this list that for the majority of ten year olds would be a good gift, but not if they don’t ever play with Lego. Because this is not the age to introduce someone to the fun of Lego, but it is the age where they will start to make more and more intricate builds, if they have been playing with it for a while.
